Save Our Schools

(S.O.S.)

A group of rural educators in Nebraska is currently forming a Save Our Schools (S.O.S.) organization. This organization originated last year in the Niobrara Valley Conference as a result of the detrimental effects of LB806 and LB1114 on rural schools. It is now in the process of expanding and becoming a statewide organization. Some of its goals include the following:

1) maintaining funding for LB806A,

2) changing LB806 distribution factors which are unfair to small, rural schools,

3) keeping professional teaching jobs within this state, and

4) ensuring a high quality of education for all Nebraska students.

This group has joined forces with NVC, FRED, Class I's United and Farmers' Union in hiring a lobbyist to ensure that our opinions are known by our legislators. If you are interested in joining this organization or finding out more information about it, contact
