Please find below a copy of a letter from Nebraska State Board of Education President Kathleen McCallister. It appears she is supporting the 413 measure.
It is however noted that the State Board of Education has gone on record in opposition to the 413 measure, as have almost every reputable State Education organization as well as the Nebraska Cattlemen, the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation, the Nebraska Grain and Feed Association, the Nebraska Independent Bankers Association, the Nebraska League of Municipalities, the Nebraska Pork Producers Association, the Nebraska Rural Electric Association, the Nebraska Telecommunications Coalition, and the South Platte United Chamber of Commerce.
We are told:
* 413 will end any hope of meaningful property tax relief.
* 413 is a dagger to the heart of rural education.
* 413 may end the basic right of Nebraska children to a publicly supported education.
